Going Back to Hanoi

Ngoc and I were waiting to rent a motorcycle today to drive through the mountains around Sapa. We did this because the past couple days were pretty foggy and unsafe for driving.

Unfortunately, today is the foggiest day of all, so no motorcycle. But we did poke around Cat Cat, a nearby Hmong village and beautiful waterfall.

To their credit, the Hmong people are dressed very colorfully, and the little Hmong kids running around are absurdly happy, despite the fact that it's freezing cold and foggy all the time.

Anyway, we're off to Lao Cai in a couple hours, which straddles the Chinese border here in north-western Vietnam. From there we take a train (business class!) back to the capital.

And then: kareoke night.
